Taste of Two Worlds

A Supper Club Where Spiced Nostalgia and Italian Romance Meet in Every Bite

In a city that often blurs cultural lines, some evenings sharpen them into something unforgettable. The kind of evening where the clink of wine glasses, the spice in the air, and the low thump of Afrobeats offer more than ambiance. They invite you into a story. Not one told in words, but in flavor, rhythm, and connection. This was the scene at Taste of Two Worlds, a culinary immersion hosted by the Ebi-Ayo Supper Club. What began as a supper gathering became a passport through taste, where Italian technique met Nigerian soul and something unforgettable unfolded.

On a late summer evening, I found myself at a long table set for discovery at the Ebi-Ayo Supper Club. Chef Tayo curated Taste of Two Worlds, a dining experience that intertwined Nigerian flavors with Italian traditions.

Taste of Two Worlds
The glow of candlelight, the rhythm of Afrobeats, and the warmth of connection set the tone. Strangers became community around a table where culture was served with every course.

The night began with glasses of bubbly, light and celebratory, the kind of opening that made everyone lean into conversation. The playlist that underscored the room was just as thoughtful as the menu, a carefully chosen mix of diaspora sounds like Afrobeats, carrying the rhythm of the evening forward. It felt like a soundtrack to memory, one that connected the food to the culture it represented.

Every detail was intentional—from the glint of gold in the snake napkin ring to a menu that teased a soulful journey through Afro-Italian fusion. This wasn’t just dinner. It was an experience waiting to unfold.

The menu unfolded course by course, each plate telling a story. The Amore Pepper Soup arrived first, a spiced broth holding lamb meatballs. Bold and rich, it set the tone for what was to come. To truly appreciate the depth of flavors in each dish, it helps to explore the roots of Nigerian cuisine, where bold spices and regional ingredients tell their own rich stories. Then came one of my favorites: a truffle-infused yam with garri polenta and honey suya chicken. Sweet and savory, familiar yet new, it was a dish where the wine pairing did more than complement. It lifted every bite.

Chef Tayo behind the scenes, plating dishes with quiet precision and purpose. His culinary vision brought two worlds together—one plate, one moment at a time.

Another standout was the fried-fufu gnocchi, bathed in a 24-hour slow-cooked oxtail stew. It was deep, soulful, and indulgent, the kind of dish that lingers long after the plate is cleared. Each sip of wine that followed seemed to know exactly where the flavors needed to go.

By dessert, I was already full but could not resist golden puff-puff paired with housemade vanilla gelato. Warm, nostalgic, and sweet, it was a perfect ending.

What made the night remarkable was the way all these elements came together. The flavors, wines, music, and people blended seamlessly. I even reconnected with a college friend, a reminder of how shared meals can collapse the years and bring us back together.

The Taste of Two Worlds dinner was more than a menu. It was an atmosphere. The music connected continents, the food reimagined heritage, and the people at the table turned into a community, if only for a night.

As I left, I thought about how rare it is to find an experience where every detail feels intentional. It was not just a dinner. It was culture, flavor, memory, and connection, served family-style.
