Get ready to be captivated by the essence of Vera Moore – a luminary whose influence stretches far beyond the makeup palette, leaving an indelible mark on the canvas of beauty and business.

Acting Roots and Entrepreneurial Vision:

Vera’s journey began on national television, where she made history as one of the first black actresses on NBC’s soap opera, “Another World,” portraying the memorable character “Linda Metcalf” for an impressive decade. It was during this time that Vera recognized a significant gap in the market – the absence of high-quality products tailored for women of color, particularly a natural-looking foundation that wouldn’t blemish clothing. This realization marked the birth of Vera Moore Cosmetics.

National Recognition and Achievements:

Over the years, Vera’s contributions have garnered national recognition, gracing the covers of esteemed publications such as Black Enterprise Magazine and earning a spot on Network Journal’s list of 25 Influential Black Women in Business. She has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Upscale Magazine, and Beauty Store Business. Her success extends beyond cosmetics, as she received the Success Stories Award from Volvo Cars of North America and hosted her radio segment, “Skin Deep & Moore on WWRL Radio.” Vera’s story is chronicled in Black Enterprise’s Book Collection, “Against All Odds.”

Active Engagement and Advocacy:

Vera is not just a businesswoman; she is an active participant in the community and various organizations. A sought-after motivational speaker, she has graced conferences like the National Minority Business Council, Small Business Development Centers, Black Enterprise Entrepreneurial Conference, and the Women’s Power Summit. Vera serves as a board member on The New York Women Chamber of Commerce and chairs Women on a Mission, dedicated to addressing the needs of autistic children.

Breaking Barriers and Expanding Horizons:

In 1982, Vera shattered the color barrier by establishing her company as the first black-owned business in the 50-year history of the prestigious Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream, Long Island, NY. Her commitment to breaking barriers continued when she spoke at the first Urban Economic Council presented by the White House Business Council, the White House Council on Women and Girls, and the US Small Business Administration.

A Household Name in Beauty:

Vera’s products are not just on shelves; they grace the stages, screens, and TV shows, including iconic productions like the Cosby Show and the Wendy Williams Show. Emmy award-winning makeup artists, celebrities, news anchor women, and women from all walks of life seek out Vera’s products and services.

Strategic Partnerships and Ongoing Expansion:

Vera’s strategic vision and dedication to excellence have led to partnerships with industry giants like Duane Reade. Featured in WWD and the Wall Street Journal, her collaboration with Duane Reade has positioned Vera Moore Cosmetics as a premier brand in the “LOOK boutique,” an upscale, high-end beauty destination within Duane Reade stores.

In an industry where innovation meets empowerment, Vera Moore stands as a testament to resilience, vision, and the enduring pursuit of excellence. Her commitment to women-owned businesses continues to redefine standards, and her legacy as a trailblazer in beauty and entrepreneurship is nothing short of remarkable.
