EIGHTH ANNUAL WASH GALA

A night to remember how we all can make a difference.

The night was filled with stars at the face eight annual wash gala on March 25, 2017, at Mezzanine in New York City. With some of the most influential people in New York City in attendance, the night was surely going to be memorable. With such stars as Simmoe Misstack & Deborah Ayfiona from the hit series Luke Cage. And Rock Nation artist young Paris and style guru Claire Sulmers lighting of the red carpet with their dazzling style. The night of pure fashion fabulousness.

The purpose was not only to bring awareness to masses about the water crisis in place, Nigeria, and Liberia. Face Africa Annual wash gala this year announce their expansion to Nigeria. Where more 60 million people in the country lack access to clean water. (water aid) As well as 130 million people don’t have access to adequate sanitation, that’s 2/3 of the population. (Water Aid) and lastly, 45,000 children under the age of 5, die every year from diarrhea caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But with the help of Face Africa places such as Liberia was able to help over 100, 000 thousand people in rural area.

Thanks to the support of more than 350 supporters and sponsors, FACE Africa raised more than $100,000 at the Gala to continue its work in Liberia, where it has succeeded in bringing clean water and community health services to 100,000 people, and to start work in Nigeria. This year’s WASH Gala event honored Amina J. Mohammed – Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations for her tireless commitment to protecting the natural environment and conserving resources for sustainable development and was hosted by Critically Acclaimed Tony Award-nominated Actress Saycon Sengbloh. Saycon Sengbloh wow the crowd with her opening speech and charming demeanor.

The Keynote Speech delivered by Sundial Brands (SheaMoisture) CEO, Richelieu Dennis. Founder and Ceo of face Africa Saran Karba Jones address the crowd thanking them for their support of FACE Africa. FACE Africa is driven and dedicated to bringing change and awareness to the clean water issue in Sub-Saharan Africa, the WASH Gala is its flagship fundraising event. The Gala also draws attention to the beauty and diversity of African culture and celebrates the accomplishments of Africans making a difference in the diaspora.
